The office was warm and stuffy. The window was jammed shut because some stupid bolt had come loose so it couldn’t be opened and her fan had been taken some weeks ago by someone who asked to lend it and never gave it back. Originally, Summer had been wearing a white blouse accompanied by a dark green vest style jumper and a black, knee length pencil skirt that showed off her figure and black boots. But now she’d taken the jumper off and undone 3 or 4 buttons on her blouse to reveal a black strappy top underneath. Her hair was down and curled at the ends, the front bits pinned back with hair grips as she was looking down whilst writing. She hated having her hair in her face while trying to work so she had a draw, literally full of hair bands and hair grips to keep it out of the way. Life as a lawyer was treating her well. So far, she’d had a case of sexual assault, a divorce case, a case where a wife sued her husband for spending all their earnings on whore houses and a couple more. It was hard work but a lot of fun. Well, fun’s not really the word. Interesting maybe. But working in this heat was damn near killing her. Piling all her papers up and closing the lid to her laptop, she got up to search for her fan. Or just a fan. She knew a lot of people were off work today, there was a bug going round and if she could just borrow someone’s for the day, she’d definitely give it back. Doing up her blouse, she stepped out of her office to see a whole load of other people that seemed to be having the same problem. All of them red faced and fanning themselves with various objects. ”Apparently the heatings gone haywire, they’re getting someone in to deal with it asap. Or else they’re going to have to send us home. It’s impossible to work like this.” Laura, a colleague of hers explained. Summer looked at her and nodded, ”You’re telling me.” She replied with a genuine smile, peering through the window of the office next door. Nope, none in there. The next room was the same but it seemed it was third time lucky. She tried the door and it was unlocked so she made her way in, unplugged the fan and took it back to her office. Once inside, she closed the door and undid her blouse again, this time a little further and plugged in the fan, sitting down to continue with her work. Much better. This time it was bearable and with the breeze blowing her hair back off her neck, she felt much more comfortable. She opened up her laptop again and went back to typing quickly. The sooner she got this paper work done the better. Then she could get back to what she did best, what she was in the job for. Arguing for justice. This particular case was a new kind for her. It was a custody battle over 3children, one 9, one 5 and the other 6 months. The poor things. She knew exactly what it was like when your parents divorced. She was the eldest and she witnessed it all. It was still all memories in her head. She’d never asked Piper what she remembered, nor Taylor. It was a subject best left untouched for all of them. It had been a hard time, seeing their mom so distraught after finding out her dad had been having an affair and now it seemed history was repeating itself, the same thing had happened to her but luckily she hadn’t got in as deep as marriage but it sure was a close call. Anyway, the mom wanted full custody of the kids with arranged visits at weekends but the father wanted full custody of them too. She’d seen far too many of these cases, maybe not first hand but through looking at files. 90% of them came out with a victory on the mother’s part but there was always that 10% chance. She figured that’s what her client was fighting for. She could have refused the case, not wanting to risk a loss so early on in her already blossoming career but seeing how upset he was, she knew she had to do something. She was going to put her all into this case and she was going to succeed. The paper work was almost complete, and then she had to send copies to her client, Mr Cruz and Mrs Cruz’s lawyer. Some Christian Jameson. She’d heard of him but she’d never dealt with him. She had no idea what he was like. But that was a good sign right? If he was good, she would have heard of him. And she hadn’t. Although she'd heard the name Jameson before, whether it was the same guy, she didn't know but this guy was apparently old and experienced and apparently the lawyer she was against was a young guy, about the same age as her. So she figured this case wouldn’t be too hard if she got everything sorted and got things well prepared. But she had to take into account what the children wanted. That meant everything. She didn’t get a choice when her parents divorced. She went with her mom and that was that. Thinking back, she probably would have chosen that anyway but it was still unfair that she didn’t get a choice. Upon hearing a knock on the door, she called out. “Come in.” Leaning back on her office chair, she closed her laptop once more and pushed her chair out, looking up at the door and standing up to speak to whoever was there. Flicking her hair over her shoulder, she closed the drawer with her foot, looking back at the door. ”Can I help you?” She asked, folding her arms casually across her stomach.

Busy didn’t describe the day Christian. It seemed like he was loaded with paper work. He even arrived to work early because of it. Christian’s day started when his alarm clock went off. The routine was the same day after day after day. He would wake up and immediately go into the shower. He would take a fifteen minute shower or so then get out. He would shave if he had to then brush his teeth along with his hair. He would head back into his bed room and start to get dressed. Working at the law firm he would wear a suite, black or gray and nothing in between. He doesn’t like blue suites or brown suites. It was either a black or gray and not a night gray either. It would have to be a dark grey or even a charcoal gray. Nothing like a light gray or anything like that, he didn’t like those. Christian usually wears a white shirt underneath and a tie. He always wears a tie. And of course dress shoes. His job isn’t the kind of job where you can dress casually in nice slacks and maybe a nice shirt or polo. He has to be dressed nicely especially if he’s meeting with clients or even going to court. The last thing Christian does in the morning is brush his hair and gather his briefcase together. On his way to work he usually stops off for a coffee and a bagel or something.
Walking into the building he would greet the same people on a day to day basis. Walking down to his office he would greet his fellow colleagues before walking into his office. His secretary would always greet him and follow him into his office reminding him of what his day has planned for him. It usually consisted of meeting with clients, other lawyers or going to court. But today he had to deal with some paperwork involving an upcoming case. Paperwork didn’t bother him, it bored him at times. But he knows the forms and everything there is to know. It just can get tiring after a while. But he has to do it. It's the part of life, his life as being a lawyer. If he never got any paperwork done he would be a good lawyer. He would be a lazy lawyer at that and he has to keep up with his father's reputation after all. He can't disappoint his father. No way. That just wouldn't work. His father wouldn't be too happy with him. After a couple of meetings that Christian had to take care of, he was back in his office sitting at his desk. Opening up the filing and everything he decided to buzz his secretary. He pressed the button for the intercom before speaking. "Jill, please hold all of my calls for the time being." Christian told her. He didn't want to be interrupted during it. Otherwise it would take longer to do. Christian didn't want that to happen. "Yes, Mr. Jameson." Christian heard back from Jill. Thankfully she would hold her calls.
The case file sitting before him was a custody battle. He had seen a few of these and was familiar with it. It was almost certain that ninety percent of the time the children were placed in custody of the mother. That’s what happened in most cases. But at times, the children were placed in custody of the father. It all depends on what is best for the children. Three children were in the middle of the divorce between the parents. Nine, five and six months were the ages of the children. It must have been hard on them. Even though the six month old wouldn’t understand anything that was going on. It still must be hard. Christian’s goal was to get the custody of the children into the hands of their mother, Mrs. Cruz. Children should never be taken away from their mother. Not that they also shouldn’t be taken from their father, but in most cases it’s better for the children to be placed in custody of the mother rather than the father. Of course it’s not that simple. There is a whole process and everything to go with it. It’s never about what the parents want, it’s what is best for the children. Now if the children were thirteen and older they would be able to decide for themselves which parent they would like to stay with. But out of the three children they are all under the age of thirteen.
Christian never met Mr. Cruz’s lawyer who was of the name Summer Harrison. The name sounded familiar. Actually thinking about it, he thought that she would in the same building as him. It was quiet possible. Rereading over the paper work he noticed that it said Ms. Harrison’s address and phone number. She did work in the same building. Maybe he knows her. Or at least has seen her around. It is possible. Anything is possible. Even if the building is quiet big, it doesn't matter. It doesn't mean you will get to know every single person, but it means that you might have at least seen some of the people.
Christian decided to go see this Ms. Harrison or was it Mrs. Harrison? He didn’t know. It was best to just go with Ms. Harrison since he doesn’t know her and never met her. Also he has no idea if she’s married. Christian left his office with the file. He knew she would have a copy as well but he thought he would bring it along. He didn’t want to seem unprepared in any way shape or form. That wouldn’t be right at all. Before leaving his office he glanced at the floor and everything. He told his secretary Jill that he would be gone for a little bit and to tell whoever calls him that she doesn’t know when he will be back in his office. Christian then took the elevator to the proper floor, got off and headed down the hallway. He finally came across her office. He knocked on the door and waited for some sort of answer. When he heard her say "Come in", Christian turned the handle on the door knob and entered. "Ms. Harrison?" Christian asked as he closed the door behind him. "I'm Christian Jameson, Mrs. Cruz's lawyer." He introduced as he stepped closer into her office and held out his hand to her.

Looking at the guy now standing before her, she realised she'd seen him around before. Not in this firm though, perhaps just in the buildings cafeteria or the car park or something. But then again, the building was so big, it was easy to get your people mixed up. There were over a hundred business set up within the sky scraper, only 3 of which were law firms. All the rest? Well she had no idea what went on on the other floors. She just knew on this floor, it was The McKenzie Law Firm, a firm well known for getting the results people are after.
Feeling a cold breeze on her chest, she looked down to see her shirt still open. She pulled it shut quickly, buttoning it up as fast as she could. Great, how professional. Here he was looking great in a suit and she looked like she'd forgotten to get dressed this morning so was doing it now. Either that or it looked like she'd just been caught in a compromising position but luckily there was no one else in the office, especially no guys. "Oh, Mr Jameson right?" She stuttered a little, leaving the top button undone and reaching across for her jumper which she swiftly pulled over head, sorting it out properly and then sitting back down at her desk, straightening the papers she'd been working on.
See, if you visited the penthouse where she lived, you'd probably think 'slob', simply because it's a mess all the time. Okay, so maybe not the lounge and kitchen area but if you were lucky enough to venture up into her room, it was a state. Clothes everywhere, nothing was in order on her dresser, her closet door was wide open, revealing everything. But on her desk, it was all neat and tidy, nothing was out of place and she liked it that way. Nevertheless, that was all sort of down to her assistant, Kacey. That girl worked her butt off. Summer could leave her desk in a horrible mess and go home and when she came back, it'd be all clean and tidy again.
"Please, Mr Jameson, take a seat." She said, motioning to the chairs on the other side of her desk. How weird that she'd just been thinking about this guy and then he turned up at her office. He was dressed pretty smart, like most lawyers do, she felt kind of casual against him. He was pretty hot too, he looked so sophisticated and at the same time, he had a kind of cute face. Anyway, enough. He was a lawyer, a lawyer that was fighting against her. Definately out of bounds. Not even friends. "Anything in particular you came here for or is it just about the case?" She asked, looking down at the papers and then back up again at him, re-opening her laptop and looking at what she'd just wrote. She didn't really know what to expect from this guy. She'd heard Mr Jameson snr was a nasty piece of work, in the court room anyway and seeing as this was what, his son perhaps? Well, like father, like son.
[blehhh sorry about the shortness, I was trying to rush before I have to go!]

Looking at the girl, she looked familiar. Maybe he saw her around the building, maybe she didn’t. It is a big building after all. So he could be getting confused with someone else. It’s possible. He has seen quite a few people around. But if they aren’t in your law firm, well then you don’t know them and might not see them again. Christian couldn’t help but notice her shirt was undone. He didn’t want to mention it and embarrass her or anything like that. That’s not the kind of guy Christian is. Anyway there had a be a good reason behind her having it open like that. Maybe she had sex with her fellow co-worker? Or boyfriend? He wasn’t going to pry into her business.
Christian held back his chuckle when she finally realized her shirt was open. It didn’t bother him if she left it open, though she probably wouldn’t do that since they don’t even know each other. It might be a little awkward in the office. Christian nodded his head. She probably heard of him, that he was on the case and all. He wondered if she knew his father. He didn’t know. Though some people assume that when you hear that a Jameson is on the case. Sometimes they forget there’s his son, Christian Jameson. It doesn’t bother him that people tend to forget about him. He’s use to it and all. It’s not something that bothers him.
Christian nodded his head as he walked over to the chairs in front of her desk and took a seat. He placed the file on his lap and looked up at her. ”Just about the case.” Christian replied simply. He thought it would be best for them to meet before the case. Of course they are on different sides and all but that doesn't mean that have to avoid each other at all costs what so ever. Christian then opened up his file. Looking back up at. Ms. Harrison he smiled at her. She was cute. He wouldn't deny it. If someone asked if he thought she is sexy, he wouldn't deny that either. Christian doesn't like to lie, it's not right. Even if it is just a white lie.
occ: its fine, mine is short as well. I'm getting ready for school.

She noticed his slight grin when she realised her shirt was open. She would have made a joke but the moment had passed. She was very professional when it came to work. She had to be really. But she also had a great sense of humour and could be pretty immature with it at times. Piper and Taylor hated it when she was being immature but half the time, she did it purely to piss them off, just because she knew it would. And there it was again, her immature side. Most people looked at her and saw the eldest sister, the one with the great career, the one that hadn't messed up her life so far, the one her sisters should take examples from. But that wasn't the truth. She had a rocky love life. There was usually a different guy taking her out each week. Not that she was a slut, she didn't sleep with all of them or anything. She'd had quite a few one night stands in her life time and a failed engagement, she wasn't going to lie about it and yes, she had learnt her lessons. She'd made loads of mistakes and she just wasn't the responsible role model people seemed to think she was.
"Oh okay, um..." She paused, flicking through the papers before pulling one out that she'd been working on earlier and passing it to him. "This is pretty much all you need. I don't want to give too much away but I don't think this is going to be an easy case." She added, knowing that strictly speaking, she wasn't allowed to discuss this case with anyone outside of the firm, or anyone who wasn't the client himself. It was difficult, especially when she got home from work and had had a bad day. She couldn't really rant to anyone about it without giving things away and she didn't want to do that. It wasn't fair on anyone. So that was how she usually ended up in one of the clubs in the city or at a restaurant or something, to take her mind off things.
The room was still stupidly hot, even more so now that she’d put her jumper back on and done up her shirt. ”I’m sorry its so hot in here. Apparently the heating’s gone crazy and is on full blast. No one can turn it down or off. ” She said with a smile, rolling her eyes at the same time. ”Hopefully it’ll be sorted soon, or else I’m going to have to work from home. And with 2 sisters there, I don’t think I’ll be getting a lot done.” She said, giving a nervous little giggle after she spoke.
He seemed like a nice enough guy to be honest. Not like some of the assholes she’d been up against in the past. It was beginning to become a sort of custom that any lawyer she came up against, male or female, took their work to seriously. As if it meant that because they were against each other in the court room, it meant that they couldn’t communicate outside of it. Most of them, she wouldn’t want to communicate with anyway. It wasn’t just the lawyer in them that made them assholes, they just had it in them from the start, or so it seemed. But this guy was different. He was pleasant and polite. It was nice to be able to talk to someone like this for once. And the fact he’d made the effort to come see her about all of this was quite nice and made her slightly less worried about the case.
”You want some coffee? We got a machine out there, or we could go to the cafeteria or something and talk a little more.” She asked, knowing that she needed to get out of this room before she passed out or something with the heat. She was sat right infront of the fan too, but it just wasn’t having such a great affect on her anymore. She felt sick and it was starting to make her tired, a caffeine boost was just what she needed. Standing up, she stood by the door, waiting for him to reply with what he wanted to do.

Christian wouldn’t deny it. She was certainly attractive. He wouldn’t have minded her keeping her shirt unbuttons. He would be totally okay with it. Then again it might distract him. Who knows? He had a client once who seemed to always be horny. She would walk into his office in a mini skirt and a halter top. Her breasts would literally jump out of her bra. It was hard for Christian to work. She was certainly attractive and had a great body but it was just a little bit distracting. Somehow he managed to deal. Maybe by not thinking about it that much or tried ignoring it. However he did it, he did it. At times he did just want to tell her to put some clothes on but he didn’t. He liked the view. But nothing happened. He knew nothing could happen. She was his client and nothing more. No matter how attractive she was, Christian knew he couldn’t start anything. It wouldn’t be right, it would be unfair is many ways than one. Christian isn't the kind of guy who would do something like that anyway. Christian was finally brought back to reality when he stopped thinking about that old client of his. She was probably a stripper somewhere in New York City, who knows. She hasn't come back to ask for him to be his lawyer so maybe she has kept out of trouble. Thats always good.
Christian looked up at Ms. Harrison. He took the paper from her and scanned it over. "They never are." Christian replied. He knows custody battles are never easy. They are hard and difficult, most difficult on the children. They can last for quiet some time. Christian has had a few custody battles in the past. He won three and lost one. The three were all women, and the judge placed the children with the mother because he felt the mother was the best. While the case he lost was the father of two kids and he had a record from when he was younger. Christian knew he wouldn't win that case but he tried so he could tell his client that he tried his hardest to get the two children in his custody even though he knew he wouldn't have won. But he tried, he put effort into it.
Just as Ms. Harrison spoke Christian removed his suite jacket. It was getting hot in there. "It's fine." Christian said as he started to unbutton the cuffs around his wrist. "Thats nice, that you all live together." Christian commented as he smiled. He lived alone. Thats just how it worked. He didn't mind it but he lived with his twin brother for a little but thats before he moved. Now Christopher lives in San Diego. Christian sees him occasionally but not like he use to. They use to see each other all the time. Maybe not every night but at least three to four times a week. They would talk on the phone as well. They have a strong relationship. They aren't just brother's they are best friends. Real best friends, always there for each other and watching out for each other.
Ms. Harrison seemed to be a nice woman. Not a bitch. But her bitchy side could just come out in court. He hated lawyers like that. When you first meet they are all nice and poliet. Yady, yady, yada. But then in court they have a whole new personality. They become a bitch or asshole if it's a guy and its the total opposite from you met before. Christian is nice all around. He doesn't have multiple personalities or anything along the lines of that. He's a nice guy, plain and simple. He's nice inside and outside of court. He's nice to his clients, co-workers and even strangers who he has never met. All around he's a nice guy. You don't' see many of those these days.
Christian nodded his head. "Sure." He said as he closed the case file, leaving it in his lap. "Where would you like to go?" Christian asked as he smiled. He wondered what she was like outside of the office. Does she has a sense of humor? Or is she sarcastic. He wondered if she was single or taken. Christian would like to know those things.

She nodded but grimaced a little at his comment about them all living together. She did love it, it meant she was never alone, she always had someone to cheer her up and the house was just never quiet, just the way she liked it. But then there were the down sides, the fact they had to share a bathroom, the fact she had absolutely no privacy when she had company, the fact that they seemed to forget to knock on the door before barging into her room and also the fact that there was never any peace. They were all so close and barely ever had fights. Disagreements maybe but it was always over just as quickly as it had begun. She loved living with them truthfully, she just didn't always see it. "Nah, I love it really. It's just three girls under one roof with one bathroom, well I'll let you put the pieces together. All that estrogen in one house, it can get pretty intense at times." She said with a grin.
She turned the door handle and stepped outside, leaving everything right where it was on the desk, taking just her hand bag with her. She stepped out into the corridor and waited for him to follow her out before she locked the door. "How about the Coffee bar downstairs?" She suggested, locking the door with a little key she had. She looked over towards Kacey who had her own desk not far from Summer's office. "I'm going to get some air and a coffee. Just forward my calls to my cell. Want me to bring you anything back up?" She asked, pausing at her desk and leaning on it gently. Summer was probably the best person to be a PA to. She hardly made Kacey do anything. She wasn't a lazy person who just sat around all day ordering her assistant around, infact, she barely even spoke to Kacey when she was inside her office unless there was a call for her and Kacey rung in to check if she was ok to take it. Apart from that, Kacey didn't have to do a lot. And then whenever Summer left her office, she'd always check if Kacey wanted anything when she came back or whatever and she never charged her for it of course, but then again, Kacey often said no, that she was fine. "Okay Miss Harrison. No, I'm fine thanks." Summer smiled. "Okay, suit yourself!" She gave a friendly little shrug and walked away, checking behind her to see if Christian was still following.
They reached the lift and Summer pressed the button to call it. But as you can imagine in a building more than 60 floors it took a while for one of the 5 lifts to come so she turned to Christian, leaning against the wall. "So, how long have you been a lawyer?" She asked, looking him over, trying not to look threatening. There was this thing she did whenever she met someone new. She had a way of analysing people, noticing everything from the clothes they wore to the way they stood or the way they smiled. Christian seemed like a confident but genuine guy. He was obviously very concerned with his appearance and thought it important to look his best, for work at least. He seemed like a very nice guy, maybe a little too nice for a lawyer but nice none the less.
One of the lifts made a ping sound to indicate it had arrived on their floor and the middle lift opened its doors swiftly. Summer indicated with her finger, pointing down to see if it was going down but the young lady in the lift shook her head and pointed up. "Never mind." She said smiling, letting the lift close its doors. Once the lift had gone, she pressed the button again and folded her arms across her stomach, trying to ease the cramp she was getting. Ever since she fell and, well you know, she'd been having cramps every now and then. She bit her lip a little and put her hand on her stomach gently, trying to do it subtly so he didn't notice. The cramp went and she returned to her normal posture, smiling at him as the lift pinged again. "Going down?" She asked, stepping in when the guy in the lift nodded. She pressed for the 2nd floor where all the food and drink places were and stepped back, leaning against the bar as the lift descended.
It stopped at a few floors before reaching theirs and she stepped out, walking towards the coffee counter, her heals clicking monotonously on the hard tiled floor. When she reached the counter, she placed the bottom of her palms on the ledge and leant over, tapping her manicured nails on the marble counter. "Um, one latte please, and whatever he's having." She said, nodding her head towards Christian with another cute smile.
